HistMap

The publication describes the history of the project HistMap (Historical Geothematic Cartography), realized by professor Pietro Corsi, Director of CRHST, CNRS/Cité des Sciences et de l'industrie, Parsi. APAT is one of the partners of the project.

The main objective of the project is to stimulate the historical interest toward the geological maps, available on line, attracting the attention of geologists, historians, archivists and managers of library collections. It also aims to make public a documentary heritage otherwise hidden and ignored, subject to the risks that its state of institutional preservation inevitably entails.

To this aim it was realized a website dedicated to the project, in which were published on line around 2500 documents, to provide scholars and enthusiasts useful tools for scientific research.
