Training course on geohazards. Camerun April 2022
From 3 to 6 April 2022, in Douala (Cameroun), in the framework of the EC Project PanAfGeo 2 (Pan-African Support to Geological Sciences and Technology Africa-EU Partnership), in cooperation with the Geological Surveys of Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, South Africa and Cameroun, a training course on ”Geohazards and environmental management of mines” has been carried out.
25 young geologists from Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Ivory Coast, Congo Brazzaville, DRC and Senegal have participated as trainees.
Class lectures and field exercises, in English and French languages, have been undertaken; specifically, the Department GEO has dealt with subjects as slope instability (with particular reference to mine slope cuts, geomechanical classifications of rock slopes, seismic and volcanic risks and satellite Earth monitoring methods.
