Stress Test e relative Peer Review

Bruxelles, 17 January 2012 As part of fulfilling request that European Union asked to the Member States after Fukushima’s event, the ENSREG (European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group) and the European Commission organized a public event open to operators and Industry in general, non-governmental organizations, media and public interest representatives, with the intention to provide an informative and tupdated on the process of implementation of stress tests on nuclear power plants of the Member States and its Peer Review. Completed the first phase of activity, with the presentation of preliminary results of stress tests by the Commission to the Council, has been launched a second phase of work focused on the peer review of national reports that the security authority of each Member State have developed. This activity involves the review of audit reports to external events than domestic natural extreme, loss of safety functions and management of severe accidents, followed by visits to each specific country, directed to the relevant regulators and operators. The peer review of the stress tests in question represents an activity of primary importance for ISPRA that enables the Institute to participate in safety checks on nuclear power plants in operation in the EU Member States and, in particular, plants located near national borders.
