Natura 2000 award - Edition 2016: vote your preferite project

Natura 2000 Award

Natura 2000 is a European network of more than 27,000 terrestrial and marine protected sites covering more than 18% of the territory and significant portions of the surrounding seas. It aims to preserve and improve habitats and species in Europe and to safeguard them for future generations. Natura 2000 therefore plays a crucial role in reducing the loss of biodiversity and ensure the long term survival of the most valuable and endangered species in Europe.

The 2016 edition of the Natura 2000 award is still ongoing and the finalists, divided into five categories (Conservation, Socio-economic benefits, Communication, Reconciliation of views and Cross-border cooperation and networking) will be evaluated by an independent jury. European citizens are also invited to vote for their favorite initiative. The online voting closes on May 8, 2016. The list of finalists with the button to vote is available here: http://natura2000award-application.eu
