A new specimen of the Mediterranean monk seal in the Egadi
Continues the commitment of ISPRA and the Marine Protected Area (MPA) "Egadi Islands", in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, to monitor the presence in the archipelago of the Mediterranean monk seal: thank to this collaboration it was possibilethe the sighting, during winter 2016, of a new specimen of Mediterranean monk seal, taken from a photo traps in the Egadi.
This attendance, probably repeated over time, concerning specimens of Mediterranean monk seal in the AMP Egadi even in winter, is due to a change compared to the past, in the attitude of the local community towards this species, as well as the choice of to estabilish the largest marine reserve in the Mediterranean since 1991.
