Convention on Nuclear Safety: 7th Review Meeting of the Contracting Parties
From last 27 March to 7 April it is running the 7th Review Conference for Nuclear Safety, with particular attention to the nuclear plants.
In the whole of the review Group nr. 6 - composed by Italy, Albania, Bulgaria, Chile, Indonesia, Luxemburg, Paraguay, United Kingdom, Cezch Republic and Singapore - the 28 March the Italian delegation has shown the national presentation on fulfilling modality of the Convention's obligations, which was subsequently discussed by the Group.
At the end of the debate, the Revision Group has underlined the fulfillment by Italy of the obligations and it was also recognized the active Italian role in international cooperation and in establishing bilateral agreements with counterpart authorities of neighboring countries, in order to manage any emergency situations and for nuclear safety exchange of information.
It was also proposed to increase the Authority's human resources, with the aim to ensure the continuity of generations, as well as to complete in time the transitio of the regulatory and control functions to the new Inspectorate for Nuclear Safety and Radiation protection (ISIN).
In conclusion was also underlined again the importance for Italy to complete the process of setting and building the National Deposit of radioactive waste, also as condition for the complete dismantling of nuclear power plants
