First quarter 2019: expected reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
In the first quarter of 2019 the trend estimate of greenhouse gas emissions forecasts a decrease compared to the previous year, equal to -0.4% in comparison with a GDP growth of 0.1%. In general, the decoupling between the emissions trend and economic index is confirmed, and an increase in GDP is associated with a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The reduction reported is mainly due to the decrease in gas consumption recorded in the domestic sector (-3.0%) and in the transport sector (-0.6%) while there is an increase in consumption of natural gas in the thermoelectric sector (2.7%).
