In the framework  of the activities planned for the 7th edition of the Earth Week, the Department of Engineering of the University of Campania L. Vanvitelli organized a scientific workshop, with the Ispra sponsorship, that follows the conference organized in May 2018, entitled "The City Upside Down: from analysis to enhancement of  Hypogea” with the collaboration of the Municipalities of Aversa, Cesa and Sant'Arpino.

Many of the centers of the provinces of Naples and Caserta are characterized by the presence of hypogea, some of which are completely unknown; for many it is not known the distribution with respect to urban development nor the structural conditions of stability. The lack of knowledge represents an element of considerable risk for the stability of historic centers.

The development and the conscious and sustainable reuse of hypogea can contribute to improving the cultural and tourist promotion of the territory, as well as being a starting point and a source of knowledge for scholars and stakeholders.

The workshop will take place in the Sala del Consiglio of the Engineering Department of University of Campania L. Vanvitelli in Aversa.  At the end of the workshop and on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October, it will be possible to visit some characteristic hypogea in the historic centers of the municipalities of Aversa, Cesa and Sant’Arpino, with tasting of typical food and wine products and attending musical performances.
