The sampling strategy and the number of signs of presence collected during the national wolf monitoring
A short animation tells the work done to collect the 24,000 signs of the presence of the wolf in Italy, according to a standardized scientific protocol on a national scale. Which areas were selected, how many km were traveled by the 3000 people involved in this activity, what kind of samples were taken?
The information collected in the field activities, after careful verification work, was entered into a database. From the statistical analyzes that will follow in the coming weeks, the final result of this work will be obtained: the estimate of the distribution and abundance of the wolf on the Italian national territory.
