Inauguration of the exhibition: “Terra nascosta. Rocks, volcanoes and earthquakes from Taramelli's discoveries to modern geology "

One hundred years after the death of Torquato Taramelli, professor of Geology at the University of Pavia, author of the first Italian seismic map and the Geological Map of Italy, Kosmos - Natural History Museum and the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences of the The University of Pavia, in cooperation with the Oltrepò Pavese Museum System, presents an exhibition to understand how the Planet is made, to discover the geological phenomena that impact on society, from earthquakes to volcanic eruptions, up to hydrogeological instability.

The event, sponsored by ISPRA, will be followed on March 31st by a conference during which Taramelli's role in the development of geological sciences in Italy will be illustrated, also through the cartography and unpublished documents produced by the scientist and kept at the Library of the Institute.

The exhibition can be visited starting from 5 March until 12 June 2022, at Kosmos - Museum of Natural History, University of Pavia, Piazza Botta 9, Pavia.
