Science citizens in actions: this is the year of bees in the City Nature Challenge

City Nature Challenge (CNC) is a international event, motivating people around the world to find and document wildlife in their cities, in urban and extra urban contest. This year was held from 29 april to 2 may

Bees, and in particular those belonging to the Apis mellifera species (European bee), were the animals most photographed by citizen scientists during the days of the City Nature Challenge 2022. This year the international biodiversity challenge involved 445 cities, out of 44 Countries worldwide, more than 67,200 people, who have collected more than 1,694,000 observations, documenting more than 50,176 species. 14 Italian cities took part in the initiative as well as the National Biodiversity Network (ISPRA / MiTE) which joined with the "Biodiversity in pose" project.

The event was sponsored by various institutions including ISPRA / SNPA and the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
