Accident in the nuclear plant of Centraco (Gard- France)
12 September ISPRA, as a national authority for nuclear safety and radiation protection, has received the information of an accident from the European Commission, through the ECURIE system for the rapid exchange of information in case of nuclear and radiological emergencies, the IAEA system and through direct contacts with the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN). The accident happened on September 12, in the Centraco nuclear installation, which is located near the Marcoule site. It has been an explosion in a furnace, followed by a fire that was extinguished at 1 Pm. The accident caused the death of an operator and injuring of 4 workers, which are not contaminated with radiations.
