COP 18: Doha to implement the global climate agreement by 2015

The 18th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (Cop 18) and the 8th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (Cmp8) will take place in Doha (26 november - 7 december) to discuss how to advance international action to combat climate change. Doha Conference will give the opportunity to ministers to discuss and plan the work to be done under the two workstreams launched by the Durban Platform. Nations participating at Durban Conference agreed to stipulate by 2015 and entry into force in 2020, a legally binding agreement for a significant reduction of emissions and to identify further measures to reduce global emissions before 2020, in order to take duly into account the agreed goal of holding global warming below 2°C compared to the pre-industrial temperature.
