Ministerial Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Fukushima

The Italian government has delegated the ISPRA General Director, Mr. Stefano Laporta, to led the National delegation composed by experts from ISPRA, ENEA and of the Italian embassy in Tokyo. In this context, as a speaker Mr Laporta will release the National Declaration, reiterating Italy's interest to participate in European and international initiatives regarding Fukushima accident, confirming already the support by ISPRA’s experts who participate to stress tests in the European community.

From December 15 to 17 the district of Fukushima, hit last year by the tsunami and the nuclear power plant, will host a ministerial conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The conference will be an opportunity to share experiences from the analysis of the nuclear accident,  about the measures adopted ,or of planned measures that require more long times associated with more in-depth analysis.

Particular attention will be linked with the investigation of the stages of preparation and response to emergencies outside plants.
These fact require coordinated action of different authorities responsible for the implementation of measures to protect the population and the environment. Equal attention will be directed to the strengthening of measures to prevent and mitigate the effects of accidents in order to prevent contamination outside the plant.

The event will be chaired by the Japanese Foreign Minister, Koichiro Gembo - co-chair with the Minister of Science and Innovation of Maleysia - and will be attended by national delegations of IAEA member states, represented at the highest level.
