The delegation ENSI (Swiss Nuclear Safety Inspectorate) visits ISPRA

From 22 to 23 November a delegation of the Swiss Inspectorate for Nuclear Safety will visit ISPRA, led by the General Director, Hans Wanner, Georg Schwarz, Vice General Director, Stefan Theis, responsible for radioactive waste, Annatina Mueller- Germanà, head of international affairs, Dominique Rauber, head of international relations of the National Central Alarm NEOC and Mr.Stefano Vescovi, delegate of Swiss Embassy in Rome.

The Delegation ENSI has been received by the Director General  Mr. Stefano Laporta, who opened the workshop explaining the ISPRA’s role and tasks as nuclear safety Authority.  The meeting is part of a bilateral agreement on cooperation about nuclear and radiological emergencies, updated in 2011, expanding the target of nuclear safety and radiation protection.
During the meeting  were debate main issues about response to nuclear and radiological emergencies, radioactive waste management, localization process of domestic deposits and the measures adopted on power plants in operation as a response to the event Fukushima
The experiences of ISPRA and ENSI were presented and discussed with the aim of defining the areas of major interest on which to develop future collaboration. In this frame, priority was given to start cooperation activities about on the response to nuclear and radiological emergencies.
