UNESCO commits to Italian expert the restoration of the temple of Maya Devi Lumbini (Nepal)
The Unesco organization has awarded the prestigious commitment to Mr.Claudio Margottini of Geological Survey of Italy (ISPRA) and Mr. PaloPagnin Society Lithorestauri of Venice.
The two experts will prepare a conservation plan to secure one of the most important holy places o fBuddhism and the whole of humanity: the archaeological site of Maya Devi, which inside there is a stone that marks the place where Buddha was born.
The remains of the temple, now contained in a building of steel and brick, are unfortunately subject to alteration and degradation, in consequence of a ground water that during the rainy season, it rises up and engulf the walls.
