Vietnamese delegation in visit to Apat
A group of APAT experts formed by Maria Dalla Costa, Franco
Guiducci, Paolo Gasparri, Luciano Onori, Lorenzo Ciccarese and
Susanna D’Antoni has met six representatives of the
environment Committee of the Vietnam National Assembly and has
explained them the activities of the Agency, with particular
reference to biodiversity protection and sustainable
development. The Vietnamese delegation has shown particular
interest to the experience of APAT, at a national and European
level, related to the alien species control activities, the sharing
of the social and economical benefits coming from the protection of
nature, the ecological nets, the management of the forests and
protected areas.
The Vice President of the Committee for the Science, Technology and
Environment of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Nguyen Dang Vang,
has explained that the Parliament of its country is studying a Bill
on biodiversity, underlining the necessity of facing the problems
of the local populations, which often countvail the institution of
protected areas for economical reasons. He has also appreciated the
suggestions provided by APAT related to the tools promoted at a
national, regional and community level to involve the interested
communities in the creation and management of natural
parks.
