Course of environmental economy
Viterbo, June 27-29
Recent changes and integrations to the Community, National and
Local regulations have shown an increasing attention on the
relations existing among economy and environment. The approach of
the course is focused on both the solution of the environmental
problems from an economic perspective (natural resources,
pollution, etc.) and the overcoming of the man-centered vision of
the environment, recognizing its intrinsic value and introducing
ethical matters such as the equity among the generations. Some of
the methods usually adopted by economic science, like cost and
benefit analysis, externality, economic value of the environmental
goods, efficiency and effectiveness of an action in environmental
field, have become more and more important.
The course will be divided in three parts. The first one will deal
with the legal and methodological aspects. The second one will
concern tools and methods for the integration of environment and
economy. The last part will concern the economic tools adopted for
environmental decisions. The course will also provide the
opportunity to apply the theory to a concrete case through a group
work.
