More than 10,000 exotic alien species in Europe in 1000 and beyond those that cause impacts. The Canada goose, the zebra mussel, the brook trout, the common wood-sorrel and nutria, are among the 100 worst invaders of our ecosystems.
These are the results of a study published on-line on "Frontiers of Ecology and Environment" - the prestigious journal of the American Society of Ecology - an article on the impacts caused by invasive species, written by more than one person of a group of European researchers, including which Piero Genovesi from ISPRA, president of the IUCN group specialized on invasive alien species.
