ISPRA receives a recognition by the authorities of the United States for its role in the ongoing collaboration with Italy as part of the GTRI program (Global Threat Reduction Initiative)
Ispra has been awarded with an important recognition by the U.S. authorities for the role played as national regulatory authority and control in the nuclear field for the GTRI program, for the success in the operations that have permanently removed nuclear materials from Italy.
The positive results of this collaboration had already been the subject of a joint statement by President Obama and Prime Minister Renzi at the International Summit in Holland on March 24.
The award was delivered to mr. Stefano Laporta - ISPRA DG - in a ceremony at the Embassy of the United States on April 3, in presence of the Ambassador mr. John R. Phillip, who expressly thanked ISPRA for the manner in which was conducted the whole authorization process and control held in full compliance with the requirements of nuclear safety.
