On February 5, from 10 am to 4 pm, it will take place in Brussels the Kick-off Meeting of pilot projects funded by the 2013 announcement "HALTING DESERTIFICATION IN EUROPE", organized by the Directorate General Environment of the European Commission (DG ENV).
The meeting, to be held at the DG ENV, aims to present the activities carried out in the field of water balance (water accounts) at European level by the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the results of the projects funded with the previous 2012 announcement, and most of all the seven pilot projects financed under the 2013 announcement.
Among the latter also appears the PAWA project - Pilot Arno Water Accounts - in which ISPRA coordinates a working group formed by the Arno River Basin Authority and by the SEMIDE / EMWIS international organization, for an action aimed both at testing the water accounting system SEEA -W (System of Environmental-Economic Accounting for Water) on the Arno basin and at using the water balance to assess the possible impacts arising from the combination of different measures of water resource management.
Further information on the project can be found in PAWA's official website http://pawa.emwis.net/ or may be required at pawa@isprambiente.it.
