As a part of the Marine SABRES project, of which the University of Pisa is a partner, among others, the ISPRA’ unit in Livorno has been involved as a stakeholder of the Tuscan Archipelago since the start of the project, for the construction of a management and governance model of the marine-coastal area that integrates
socio-economic and ecological aspects. The aim of this innovative approach, applied to different European seas including the Mediterranean, is to develop - together with local communities - more effective decision-making processes for the conservation of marine biodiversity with a view to sustainable socio-economic development.
