ISPRA, through the Department for the Geological Survey of Italy, is involved, as a Linked third party of EuroGeoSurveys (EGS), in the European Project EuroGEOSS Showcases: Applications Powered by Europe (E-SHAPE), funded by the Horizon 2020 Programme.

ISPRA participates in Pilot 3 "Assessing Geo-hazard vulnerability of Cities and Critical Infrastructures" of Showcase S6 "The Disasters Resilience showcase", coordinated by EuroGeoSurveys.

EuroGEOSS Showcases aims to develop operational Earth Observation (EO) services with users and create the conditions whereby Europe's strengths are utilized to address societal challenges, promote entrepreneurship and support sustainable development.

In general, 55 European partners participate in the EuroGEOSS Showcases project, but for Pilot 3, in which ISPRA is involved, the other European partners are: Geological Surveys of Europe (EGS), Geological Survey of Spain (IGME ES), Geological Survey of Greece (IGME GR), Geological Survey of Austria (GBA), Geological Survey of Ireland (GSI), Geological Survey of Poland (PGI), Geological Survey of Lithuania (LGT), Geological Survey of Czech Republic (CGS), Geological Survey of Denmark (GEUS), Geological Survey of Belgium (GSB), Center Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC).

The specific activities for ISPRA will concern the use of EO data and services as well as the dissemination of their effectiveness in the city of Como, in relation to critical areas and infrastructures affected by subsidence.

E-SHAPE began on May 1, 2019 and will last for four years.
