Correlation among mycological components of Calabria and EUNIS and Natura 2000 habitat classification systems - First correlation of fungal species of natural forests
This manual represents the first application, at a regional level, of the correlation among macromycetes of Calabria and EUNIS and Natura 2000 habitat classification systems.
It is the result of a specific Working Group set up within the "Fungi Special Project" of ISPRA in 2012, with the Calabrian Mycological Confederation.
A total of 45,138 mapping and census records were processed to get 2,678 species including varieties and forms. Afterwards in order to eliminate the synonymy, which would have altered the results on the presence and frequency of macromycetes in the studied habitats, each datum was compared to the systematic and taxonomy of the Index Fungorum obtaining only 1,500 good species as a final result.
It is, of course, the first manual of its kind, at national and European level, and represents a fundamental contribution and a starting point for the identification of species typical of the different habitats studied.
The first Volume deals with the mycological components of natural forests.
