The Economic Value of Biodiversity and Ecosystems - Economics of Ex-Situ Conservation
ISPRA, in cooperation with the University of Molise, has just published The Economic Value of Biodiversity and Ecosystems - Economics of Ex-Situ Conservation in the series Manuals and Guidelines. The aim of the authors is to give a definition of biodiversity that can fit, in a useful way and in a broader context than in the past, the close ties that link biodiversity to the institutional and socio-economic structures and procedures. Being aware of technical difficulties authors present the most recent and significant contributions of the scientific literature in a comprehensive framework. The present work may be helpful for understanding the issues related to biodiversity loss as a result of barely sustainable socio-economic models, as well as for understanding current methods and models of assessment and of economic pathways and policies aimed to biodiversity conservation.
