Posidonia oceanica, the lung of the Mediterranean

The theme of the  conference is dedicated to Posidonia oceanica. This plant forms submerged grasslands that play a fundamental ecological role, forming the climax community of the Mediterranean Sea and exerting a significant action in protecting the coast from erosion. Inside live many animal and plant organisms that find nourishment and protection in the prairie.

Included the topis also an overview about the project Seaforest Life, which deals with concrete actions for the conservation of Posidonia grass in the three parks involved, aimed at decreasing the regression and the purchase of carbon credits that will serve to reduce gaseous emissions.

At the meeting an Ispra will participate.
