Future climate in Italy – An analysis of regional climate models projections
Climate projections for the XXI century over Italy were selected and analysed, on the base of four regional climate models taking part in Med-CORDEX, an international research iniziative focused on the Mediterranean region.
Temperature and precipitation mean values and extreme indices are examined, in two different socio-economic and greenhouse emissions scenarios, as defined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The aim is to synthesize the knowledge and the uncertainties about future climate in Italy.
This kind of information on future climate, together with the observations and the estimate of current climate trends, are fundamental for the evaluation of climate change impacts and vulnerability, and for adaptation strategies and implementation plans.
