During the 3rd European Conference on Climate Change Adaptation, the National System for Environmental Protection Working Group on Climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation (coordinated by ISPRA and formed by ARPA Valle d'Aosta, ARPA Piedmont, ARPA Liguria, ARPA Friuli Venezia Giulia, ARPA Veneto, ARPA Emilia Romagna, ARPA Toscana, ARPA Sardinia) will illustrate the ongoing activities on climate change impact indicators at national level.

Governments across Europe are carrying out national assessments of climate change impacts, vulnerability and risks. These assessments are intended to be used by policymakers to develop national-level adaptation strategies and plans, while also helping to inform urban decision-makers in preparing local adaptation (and mitigation) plans.

The interactive session on “Information needs for planning adaptation at national and local level” (Thursday, 8 June, 11:15-13:00) will discuss whether the information currently produced at national and local level is fit-for-purpose, what the main information needs are, what the main points of difference and commonality across countries are, and will focus on the main barriers or information gaps. Representatives from the National System for Environmental Protection Working Group (ARPA Friuli Venezia Giulia and ARPA Sardinia) together with representatives from the European Environment Agency, the Federal Environment Agency, the Universities of Twente and Rotterdam, and the Italian National Research Council, will present their current activities and actively participate to this scientific debate
