Research & Innovation: “Capacity Building for GEOSS”

DG Research and Innovation of the Eu has recently published a brochure describing the activities of capacity building for the implementation of the GEOSS (Global Earth Observation System of Systems), the System Systems of Observation of the Earth GEO (Group on Earth Observations ). The GEO is an intergovernmental initiative based on voluntary contributions. The GEOSS vision is to build a future in which the decisions and actions for the benefit of society are taken through a system of observations and information on the ground coordinated and integrated, in order to allow the international community to defend itself against natural disasters and man-made disasters, to understand what are the environmental causes of health risks, to manage energy resources, respond to climate change and its impacts, to safeguard the water resources, improve weather forecasts, manage ecosystems, promote sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation.
