The new Quaternary scale: implications and future applications
Rome, June 17-18, Auditorium ISPRA, Via Curtatone 7
In 2009 a long international dispute has been solved about
redefinition of the Quaternary status, that has involved the
geological scientific community for years. The solution has brought
differents changes in the chronostratigraphic scale, but finally
accepted by both sides of the ‘Earth Sciences’
scientific community, IUGS and INQUA.
The aim of the workshop is to contribute to spread the adoption of
the new scale and to assess its effects on different fields. The
workshop is divided in 2 sessions: the first faces the
chronostratigraphic implications of the scale, the second is
dedicated to the study-experiences and the effects on the
geological chartography, such as CARG project.
The workshop is organized with the patronage of : AIQUA, CIS,
ISPRA, SGI, SPI, CNR.
