The structures of historical and artistic interest, as well as representing the historical memory, may be the driving force for tourism and economy. Their conservation represents a complex challenge. Today's technology offers new and effective tools for the
assessment of hazards related to natural phenomena, for the analysis of the vulnerability of buildings, also through models and experimental analysis in situ. They also allow to plan non-invasive and reversible interventions without sacrificing security and, therefore, the preservation of human life.
