Soil Sealing Assessment and Monitoring in the Mediterranean Coastal Watershed
the project answer to the TENDER ESASoil Sealing Assessment and Monitoring in the Mediterranean Coastal Watershed with the aim of implementing information services on a regional scale in order to demonstrate the benefits and usefulness of information derived from Earth Observation (EO) technologies.
In particular, the project is made up of a consortium made up of Planetek Italia (prime contractor), Collecte Localization Satellites (CLS -FR) and ISPRA.
The activities include the development of a methodology to quantify the degree of waterproofing of the soil using Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 images, the production of the mapping of the degree of waterproofing on the coastal areas of the Mediterranean (within 20 km from the coast), and the validation of the mapping produced. In addition, the project provides for the promotion and dissemination of results and the assessment of the impact on users.
The project has a two-year duration and will end in March 2023
