Woody biomass currently are the most important source of renewable energy in the EU and in Italy and represents an indispensable resource to achieve the European targets for "energy and climate change" which plan to rise from the current 18% of energy from renewable sources to 32% in 2030.

The Italian Society of Silviculture and Forest Ecology, in its role as a reference scientific society for forests and wood products, has organized an event to debate the issue in a scientifically correct way and to give space to some of the most important stakeholders that belong to the association of biomass energy producers and also Italian environmental associations.
