Annual report on sulphur content of heavy fuel oil, gas oil and marine fuels used in Italy 2016
The requirements regarding the sulphur content of certain liquid fuels used in European Union is one of the main measures to preventing acidification of ecosystems. In particular the use of heavy fuel oil, gas oil and marine fuels in the territory and territorial waters was regulated by Directive 199/32/EC and its amendments.
The directive requires that Members States supply the Commission with an annual short report on the sulphur content of the liquid fuels used in their territory during the preceding calendar year.
At the nation level the art.298 comma 2-bis of Legislative decree 152/2006 provides that ISPRA draw up annual report on sulphur content of fuels and the Ministry of Environment and Protection of land and Sea send to European Commission a summary document based on this report.
