Italy will participate in the work with representatives of the bodies that are involved in the implementation of the National Tsunami Warning System-SiAM, namely the Department for Civil Protection, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology and ISPRA. In particular, ISPRA manages the tide gauge network and the SiAM network (redundant first level stations with decametric full scale), carries out continuous monitoring and provides, in real time, information on sudden phenomena of changes in sea level on the Italian coasts, following seismic events recorded in the Mediterranean.
The Institute has also produced inundation maps connected to potential tsunami events and the related warning zones for the operation of the SiAM, available in the Tsunamimap portal.

Furthermore, ISPRA takes part in communication, education and training initiatives, conducted at national level, to contribute to the creation of coastal communities that are more aware of the tsunami risk and therefore ready to quickly follow the evacuation procedures of exposed coastal areas.
