Berne Convention for the Protection of the European nature: meeting of a working group at ISPRA to define the actions for the protection of biodiversity against the threat of climate change
The 28th April will be held in Rome (Italy), at the ISPRA (Istituto Superiore per la Ricerca e la Protezione Ambientale), a meeting of the Select Group of the Bern Convention.
The Select Group is a restricted group of (national and international) experts set up on an ad hoc basis by the Committee of the Parties to the Bern Convention (51 to date) for preparing a new Programme of Work for the Group of Experts on Biodiversity and Climate Change.
The following themes will be discussed: impacts of climate change on biodiversity; role of biodiversity in climate change mitigation and adaptation; impacts of climate change adaptation and mitigation measures on biodiversity; ecosystem-based adaptation measures and the transition to a greener economy. Objective of the meeting is presenting concrete topics to be considered for integration in the future work plan of the Group of experts on biodiversity and climate change.
