Annual meeting of the National Committee DESS
Rome, 8 April
The annual meeting of the National Committee for the Decade
of Education for Sustainable Development (DESS) will be
held on Thursday, April 8th, at 10:30 am, at the Italian
Geographical Society headquarters (Villa Celimontana, Via della
Navicella 12, Rome) .
The purpose of the meeting is to exchange views on the progress of
the Italian campaign for the Decade and on the best practices, with
particular reference to the "UNESCO Week for Education for
Sustainable Development" , held annually in November.
We announce that the Italian UNESCO Commission
proposed to dedicate the 2010 edition of the UNESCO ESS Week to the
theme of MOBILITY and that the meeting will be an
opportunity to discuss the issue related to the theme and the
actions that can be undertaken in the future by UNESCO
Commission and DESS partners to ensure the success of the event.
Suggestions and proposals are welcome.
Members of the National Committee and all the organizations that
joned or are interested to join the UNESCO DESS campaign
initiatives are expected to attend the meeting
The seminar "Towards a culture of biodiversity", organized
by the Italian National Commission for UNESCO in collaboration with
FAO / ERP, Federparchi, Ispra, Legambiente and WWF, will
follow at 2.30 pm.
The seminar aims to raise awareness and dialogue about the issues
of biodiversity and will be concluded with the preparation of a
statement, shared by members of the campaign DESS, about the
importance of using education and culture for the protection of
biodiversity, to be disseminated to the civil society and
education organizations.
Admission to the seminar is free and open to all
interested parties.
