On 13 January 2012, in the Giglio Island, the cruise ship Costa Concordia sank in one of the most beautiful areas of the Park of the Tuscan Islands. The tragic event, which 32 people died, also involved a considerable damage to the coastal environment, especially to the seabed.

Nine years after the accident, in consideration of the conclusion of the seabed cleaning activities (completed in May 2018) ISPRA will participate in a seminar on the environmental consequences of "Costa Concordia" incident and how to minimize them, carried out by public and private institutions.
As part of the seminar, ISPRA will also present a technical-scientific report and a photographic catalog as a visual testimony of what has happened and the actions in progress for the emergency managementa nd the containment of environmental damage.
