Ispra researcher on the list of Highly Cited Researchers
The list of highly cited researchers of Clarivate Analytics includes 6244 scientists, and 94 Italians, considered the most influential in the world, identified on the basis of an analysis of their publications in the last ten years. Only researchers with exceptional scientific performances in one or more of the 21 fields (those used in Clarivate Analytics Essential Science Indicators, or ESI) or in more fields can be part of the list.
The list of highly cited researchers from Clarivate Analytics, represents the main researchers in 21 sectors of science and social sciences around the world. The annual list is based on the number of citations for articles published over a period of 11 years, and selects those classified among the first 1% most cited for their thematic field and year of publication, identifying the most influential world scientists in the different research areas.
In the 2019 edition there are a total of 169 environmental scientists, among whom Piero Genovesi is the only Italian. The Ispra researcher has been included in the prestigious list thanks to numerous articles he published in scientific journals of greater impact, such as Nature, Science, Science Advances, Nature Communications, Trends in Ecology and Evolution, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and many others.
Piero Genovesi ISPRA head of wildlife co-ordination service, chairs the specialist group on invasive species of the World Union for Conservation of Nature, is a member of the Steering Committee of the IUCN Species Survival Commission, is an associate researcher at the Concordia University of Montreal and at the University of Stellenbosch.
