Living Planet Report 2022

Thursday 13 October will host the launch event of the Living Planet Report 2022, the WWF's global report on the health of the planet. The Report provides a clear picture of the health status of vertebrate species populations around the world, which can be used to measure the overall health of the ecosystem. Nature has been showing this for years: we live in the full "Anthropocene", the era in which unsustainable human activities are pushing the natural systems that sustain life on Earth, including ours, to the limit. The 2022 edition focuses on the close relationship between nature loss and the climate crisis, identifying the system changes necessary for a nature-positive future.

New geographies: cities, territories and public policies in the ecological transition

The initiative interrogates the scientific communities and technical structures that produce descriptions and information on a territorial scale with the aim of building the capacity to work on the network, sharing data and information and cooperating in the definition of production and interoperability standards and in the construction of centers for sharing elaborations and interpretations.

National report on pesticides in waters. Data 2019 - 2020

The Report published by ISPRA provides information on the presence of residues of plant protection products in surface and groundwater. The results of the 2019-2020 monitoring are presented in terms of frequency of finding and distribution of concentrations, the levels of contamination obtained by comparison with the environmental quality limits are evaluated. The evolution of contamination is analyzed and the most critical substances and the phenomenon of polyexposure are examined. Finally, the regulatory framework is placed in relation to the need to reduce the impact on the environment.

Pollinators Path

International day for disaster risk reduction

The International day for natural disaster risk reduction  will be celebrate the 13th October. The day was created for the will of the General Assembly of UN in 1989. The target of that day is to send a  signal to the Governments of all the World, to the international organization and the global population, to make aware about the major frequency and consistency in which natural disasters happens. ISPRA: "Italy is a country with hydrogeological risk, reducing it means acting on four fronts: knowledge, awareness, preparation, interventions". Watch the video  produced by ISPRA

An all-Italian research infrastructure for the network of geological services

On the International Day for the Reduction of Natural Disasters 2022 the GeoSciencesIR project coordinated by ISPRA kicks off in Rome What are the risks due to geological events such as landslides, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, are we exposed in the territory in which we live? What resources of the subsoil can be used to meet the increasingly urgent need for energy and raw materials? Again, what contribution do geological sciences make to the ecological transition and to the objectives set by the European Green Deal? These and other questions can be answered by GeoSciencesIR, the new research infrastructure for the Italian Network of Geological Services (RISG) which will make available to regional geological services and beyond, data, services and tools necessary for carrying out the monitoring functions. and control in the various fields of the Earth sciences.

Dredging and management of coastal marine sediments

The National Health Prevention System for Environmental and Climate Risks

The National Health Prevention System from environmental and climatic risks, established by the PNRR2 decree, aims to improve and harmonize the policies and strategies implemented by the National Health Service for the prevention, control and treatment of acute and chronic diseases, transmissible and non-transmissible, associated with environmental and climatic risks.

Like larger litter, microplastics also pose a threat to the marine environment

Researchers from the University of Siena, who are on board the Astrea research vessel together with ISPRA researchers, as part of the Mo.Ri.net project , are monitoring the presence of microplastics both on the sea surface and on the water column. The Mo.Ri.net project (Monitoring, census, removal and recycling of ghost nets: fishermen as key players in the safeguard of the sea) aims to make a tangible contribution to solving the problem of floating waste deposited on the seabed, responsible for a direct environmental impact on the ecosystem and protected habitats and species.

Second meeting of the seventh Global Environment Outlook

80th Anniversary of the Urban Planning Law n.1150: From the city to the territory for the Ecological Transition

38th meeting of the EPA Network

The 38th meeting of the EPA Network, the network of Heads of European Environmental Protection Agencies, is underway in Bucharest. Second National Conference on Backfill: technical and legal aspects of environmental relevance
