It will be held in Florence, at the Basin Authority of the Arno River, the second workshop "Pawa - Pilot Arno Water Accounts" project dedicated to the application to the basin of the Arno River of the water balance system SEEA-Water – System of Environmental-Economic Accounting for Water developed by the United Nations, with the aims to become the European standard reference for the assessments that the European Commission will give about to study existing impact and future pressures that can have on water resources.
The workshop focus on the management and organization of data about water drawing and includes a session of "training exercise" to illustrate the data management system standard proposed on the basis of data collected by local Bodies (Publiacqua, Nuove Acque, Acque SpA) and by Italian Provinces present in the study areas of the basin (for agricultural and industrial uses): the aim is to highlight the characteristics and weakness of this reporting system.
The experimental application of the SEEA-Water System standards applied at the Arno basin will allow to have ahead a real representation of the water balance and how its evolution will impact on the definition of Management Plan and, specifically, of the measures to be adopted in accordance with the objectives of the Water Framework 2000/60/EC and of Blueprint to safeguard Europe's waters.
The workshop is part of the activities planned by PAWA European project (http://pawa.emwis.net/-http://www.isprambiente.gov.it/it/progetti/pawa) , with the participation of ISPRA (as a leader), Arno River Basin Authority and the International Organization SEMIDE / EMWIS
