As part of the communication initiatives of the LIFE WolfAlps EU project, the project partners of the Lombardy Region and the Alpi Marittime protected areas are organizing an international workshop to be held in Milan on 12 June at Palazzo Lombardia, with the aim of improving our collective understanding and communication strategies related to large carnivores.

The morning session of the workshop will be dedicated to different communication strategies that can be applied to a wide variety of environmental issues. Italian and foreign speakers will present their experiences, difficulties and solutions. The topics covered will concern various environmental issues, including the climate crisis, invasive alien species, the coexistence between humans and large carnivores, and different communication approaches such as crisis communication, NGO campaigns and positive communication. Simultaneous translation of the speeches into English will be provided.
The afternoon session will actively involve all participants (in person) in a "world café". This will provide the opportunity to share valuable expertise and work on selected topics. Our goal is to promote greater awareness and understanding of large carnivores by collectively improving our communications efforts.
An ISPRA researcher will participate in the workshop with a speech on "Communicating alien species: an impossible challenge?".
