LIFE TURTLENEST
The LIFE TURTLENEST project, co-financed by the European Union and coordinated by Legambiente, has the main objective of conserving and protecting the Caretta Caretta sea turtle from threats related to human disturbance in the nesting sites of the western Mediterranean basin. LIFE TURTLENEST also intends to evaluate the impact of climate change on the nesting of the species. Through a multidisciplinary approach and thanks to the establishment of an international network, the best shared techniques and a monitoring and control system are used aimed at the conservation of new nesting sites in current and future climate scenarios.
In the LIFE TURTLENEST project, ISPRA is responsible for the geomorphological and geochemical characterization activities of the nesting sites, for the analysis for land planning and management and for the drafting of guidelines on the management of coastal erosion for the suitability of the habitat of nesting.
