The perception of 5G technology in two roman neighborhoods
This survey identifies and analyzes the opinion and perception that local communities have on the recent installation of 5G telephone systems in the city of Rome.The identified area of analysis are two Roman neighborhoods located in Municipio II and IV, areas where mobile phone antennas have caused problems to the local communities.The survey was carried out with qualitative techniques of social research: · Collection and analysis of documents on the topic of 5G.· Interviews with representatives of the local communities. The analysis of the interviews identified the following thematic areas: a) The main environmental problems in the areas of residence; b) The impact of 5G on health and environment; c) The contribution of 5G to the quality of life; d) Opinions on 5G telephony systems: the ones in favor, the contrary, the uncertain; e) The administrative procedure for the installation of telephony antennas; f) Citizen information and participation.In the final part, the theme of public participation was explored with a description of the levels of involvement of the population and the use of main participatory tools (face-to-face and/or online) that play a strategic role for public administrations in territorial management.
