The “Goethe’s trip in Italy” and the landscape of the geology
This volume, published thanks to ISPRA-Geological Survey of Italy and curated by the Italian Association of Geology and Tourism for the International Year of Planet Earth, revisits the route that J. W. Goethe traveled about 220 years ago, from the Alps to Sicily. Landscapes and geological sites mentioned by the great German writer, are shown comparing the acute considerations and intuitions of the author, with the interpretations and the latest discoveries of modern geology.
A language accessible to the public as well as rigorous, offers to the reader both of scientific and cultural information. The iconographic component puts excerpts of geo-thematic maps besides reproductions of original drawings by Goethe, these provided by the Casa di Goethe in Rome, prestigious venue where it has been recently presented the book.
