Carta della Natura (Map of Nature) of the Emilia-Romagna Region: habitat cartography and assessment at 1:25,000 scale
This report describes the activities and methodologies that led to the creation of the 1:25,000 scale Map of Nature of the Emilia-Romagna region, which is now published.
After a brief discussion of the biogeographical, geological and landscape characteristics of the region, the final products are shown, along with a summary of the analysis of the results obtained in this territory by the methodology developed throughout the nation-wide project. In particular, the production phase of the habitat map and the subsequent evaluation of the biotopes from an ecological-environmental point of view are described. This allows us to highlight the areas of greatest natural value and those at risk of degradation.
The report also contains a technical annex made of technical sheets describing all of the mapped habitats.
The mapping and assessment of the habitats of the Emilia-Romagna region which are here presented, represent a valid reference point that can be used both by the Public Administration and by individual citizens, for all of the activities that require a solid knowledge base of the territory.
