Global deforestation and forest degradation: extent, causes and effects
The report describes quantitative and qualitative features of deforestation and forest degradation at global scale and their impacts on environment and societies. The study investigates causes of deforestation and forest degradation, as well as illegality and corruption linked to the phenomenon within the forest-wood business system. The authors focus on legislative instruments and international multilateral and bilateral agreements likely to mitigate global deforestation and forest degradation as well as on voluntary instruments adopted by industry and civil society.
