The new version of the hydrodynamic model VL-FEM System Hydro-Meteo-Mare (SIMM) for predictions of high water in the lagoon of Venice
This paper presents the work of refining the predictive capabilities of the system Hydro-Meteo-Mare (SIMM) relating to events of high water in the Lagoon of Venice.
For this purpose it was acquired and implemented an updated version of the code of the hydrodynamic model VL-FEM prediction of sea levels in the Venetian Lagoon, already present at ISPRA as part of the SIMM. The new version offers significant improvements over the previous computational grid with higher resolution, update the bathymetry of the lagoon, the implementation of the model initialization procedure. In addition, it has been studied the possibility of corrective algorithms to produce values of input levels to the model, to improve system reliability. Finally, some studies have been performed on some of the statistical time series in 2008. In this work are presented and discussed the preliminary results.
