Environment and Health Observatory

Sharing the international approach on the Environment and Health issue together with the Objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations, the challenge of which was reaffirmed by the Environment and Health conference in Ostrava (2017), which promoted a path towards the promotion of health, prevention and environmental quality, ISPRA aims to contribute to the path towards the promotion of health, prevention and environmental quality, identifying the E&H issue among the priority lines of its activity for the two-year period 2022-2024 and establishing the Observatory Environment and health.

The Environment and Health Observatory (E&H) was developed to strengthen ISPRA's initiatives on the subject of Environment and Health. The activities of the Observatory also underline the commitment and strategic role of ISPRA in support of the Ecological Transition. The topics covered are air pollution, sustainable mobility, urban greenery, climate change, environmental assessments and authorizations, the circular economy, contaminated sites, environmental damage, water pollution, biodiversity and communicable diseases and chemicals.

The activities of the Environment & Health observatory are:
• reconnaissance and detection and updating of the Institute's framework of knowledge and experience on the A&S issue;
• coordination of the activities carried out within the Institute on this issue;
• implementation of communication, information and environmental education strategies to support the activities of the Observatory;
• creation of a network of experts, who work in collaboration with National and International Health Authorities;
• evaluation of the relationships between priority emerging issues (such as microplastics, non-ionizing radiation) and health to reduce gap knowledge
