Previous studies
Previous studies must be treated in a sufficiently extensive manner, starting with the Authors who first dealt with the geology of the area under examination. The topic should not be understood as a mere list of Authors, but as a means to illustrate the evolution over time of geological knowledge and to compare different interpretations and models. For this reason, at least some of the most important and significant works may be appropriate a brief summary. Particular attention should be given to works with a cartographic implication, especially if they include geological maps.
These indications in any case are general. It is up to the Authors to decide, on a case by case basis, how to deal with the subject, also in consideration of the typographic space available in the Explanatory Notes.
